Digital TV Conversion

Basically, if you have an analog TV, you will continue to get analog signal from Columbus FiberVision. If you have a digital TV, you will get digital signal from Columbus FiberVision.

This is a web site that explains the off-air broadcasters changing to digital. The off air broadcaster will shut off their analog signals next year and broadcast digital only. For more information, visit http://www.dtvanswers.com/

For more information on the February 2009 switch, please go to the above website, or http://www.dtv.gov/

If you have a digital TV, it must be a digital TV with QAM tuner already installed. Many TV's sold recently, are NOT actually HD (High Definition) but are, High Definition READY. Which means, on these TV's in order to receive a High Definition signal, the TV owner will have to have a TV technician change out the tuner in their TV to a HD QAM tuner, so true HD signals can be received. In addition, many older TV's do not go past 100 on the channel selector. The only way to receive digital signals above 100 is to have a TV capable of doing so. If a new TV is purchased, be certain it is true HD (not classified as HD Ready) and has a QAM tuner already built in. For more information about QAM tuners, visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QAM_tuner

We have added new HD channels to our channel lineup. You will find them in the 100+ spots on your digital TV. We invite you to scan your TV, to verify if your set is capable of receiving these channels.

PS. Any FiberVision customer buying an HD TV from the Columbus Westco store between 1/1/08 & 12/21/08, will be entered into a drawing for another HD TV! Drawing will be held: 12/22/08.
